EY Immersive Dinner Experience

For the EY Partner Conference in Calgary, EY wanted to create an immersive dining experience that fully surrounded its 900 guests and gave the evening a strong connection to the location.

Go2 Productions was brought in to create a multi-surface projection experience that transformed the dining room into an audiovisual journey through Alberta, changing with the course of the dining. The experience used two large projection screens and the existing conference centre airwall to create a 270° floor-to-ceiling environment around the audience.

The concept was designed to reveal itself gradually. When guests entered the room, only a minimal EY logo was projected on the back wall and branded downlighting on the side screens. Once the audience was seated, the full projection environment was revealed, immersing the audience in the landscapes of Alberta.

Execution:

The opening sequence began with a brand logo animation on the centre surface. As the music and animation intensified, the branded downlights on the side screens turned off sequentially from front to back. The animation then moved across the side screens, directing the audience’s attention back toward the centre surface.

From there, the branded sequence transformed into a “ripping of reality” moment, revealing a realistic Calgary cityscape across the full 270° projection surface. Throughout the evening, the room shifted into multiple expansive environments, transporting guests from the city to blooming prairies, mountain bases, lakes, Banff, Jasper, and the Three Sisters mountain peaks. The experience ended with an immersive aurora borealis finale.

To create the environments, Go2 used geographic data from Google Earth as a reference for the landscapes and landmarks. The scenes were textured and animated in Unreal Engine, which allowed the team to work with large geographic environments and create realistic movement across an ultra-wide projection format.

One of the main technical challenges was matching the projected content across different surfaces. The two large projection screens and the existing airwall each responded differently to colour, brightness, and texture. Go2 colour corrected each surface individually so the final image felt consistent across the full environment.

The production also required handling large rendered video files and last-minute updates on-site. Some files were over 12GB, and the team found that tethering through cell phones was faster than the on-site network for transferring updates during production.

Results:

The final experience surrounded 900 EY guests in a large-scale projection environment that changed throughout the evening. The visuals gave the dinner a stronger sense of place by connecting the event to Calgary and Alberta’s landscapes. Instead of using projection as background content, the experience became part of the event flow, helping guide attention, mark transitions, and create memorable moments throughout the evening.

Guests were fully immersed in the environment, and the projection helped elevate the EY Partner Conference with an audiovisual experience tailored to the audience, the room, and the location.

This project demonstrated how projection can transform a corporate dinner into a thematic, immersive experience.

By using ultra-wide projection and realistic 3D animations across multiple surfaces, we remade a conference room into a changing Alberta landscape. We proved how immersive experiences can be designed around the rhythm of an event and carry the audience through the evening with a premium audiovisual experience.
